How To Wear Black On Your Summer Holiday

For the first time in 5 years, I’ll be home for Christmas. More specifically, I’ll be home in Australia. And this year, I won’t be donning a fluffy Christmas jumper. Rather, it will more likely be a bikini and denim shorts! I’m already relishing the the idea of sunbathing on the sandy beaches listening to the waves roll into the shore, clinking glasses during the silly season and eating plenty of ice-cream! Australian summers can be sweltering, particularly in Brisbane where the humidity is high. It’s the season where Aussies flock to the coast, mangoes are the fruit of choice and sunscreen sales will skyrocket. If you’re like me, and refuse to give up your black uniform, be (sun) smart. Revert to light, breathable fabrics such as linen and cotton. I’ll be looking to looser, flowy styles to help me stay cool. For the evenings where you might want something a little dressier, play with different textures and accents such as lace and ruffles. Incorporate some metallic touches through your jewellery or accessories. Add a minimalist sparkle or a statement bag. And don’t forget – it’s not just what’s on show that can be eye-catching. Treat yourself to some luxury lingerie to strip down to when the heat becomes unbearable.
